Jamie Harrison in the Streets of Dublin

I've jumped the pond to Dublin, Ireland for the week and after dinner this evening, I took a walk around Grafton Street. While walking past the shops, I heard an electric guitar a few meters ahead. As I got closer, I saw a crowd of shoppers, many of whom I assume were fellow visitors, congregated along the left side of the street. I situated myself between a couple of teenage girls and middle-aged folks who were smiling and swaying along to the popular "Love Yourself" by Justin Bieber.

The musician's name was Jamie Harrison as indicated by his amp which sat upon a rolling cart to his right, and by the open case in front of him advertising his CD for sale. He had quite the compact setup: his guitar, mic and mic stand, a pedalboard, electronic drum kit (which looked the size of a computer mouse) and a bass drum pedal, all of which I presume fit on the cart.

Bravo, sir.

After Bieber, he jumped into "You've Got the Love" by Florence and the Machine. Clearly, I wasn't going anywhere. He played it through using his pedalboard to loop guitar lines, tambourine (via the drum kit), and backing vocals. His take on the song was groovy, his voice deep and smooth with that Irish warmth reminiscent of Hozier.

You can hear a clip of it above or check out the video in full here.

Thanks for the street tunes, lad.
