I discovered Aurora during New York City's CMJ Music Marathon last year when she opened for Cold War Kids at Brooklyn Bowl. I hadn't heard of her at the time, but her name quickly engraved itself in my mental "artists-to-keep-tabs-on" list from the very first song.

In May of this year, she released an EP, Running With the Wolves, and returned to New York for a couple of shows. I was lucky enough to see her live show again, this time at Rockwood Music Hall, a smaller more intimate venue.
Animated, haunting, innocent. Her performances are mesmerizing. One moment, her arms are jaggedly flowing and eyes darting left and right, frantic and unsettled; the next, her body still, eyes wide and hollow seemingly on the edge of tears. It's a delicate balance of release and restrain, and she commands it well.
And her while her sound, which I would describe as ethereal dark pop, is not entirely new or groundbreaking, it is both laudable and refreshing to see such a well-crafted artistic vision from someone of just 18 years old.
Today, she released a new music video for "Running With the Wolves" which you can watch here:
She's also released a video for her first single off the EP, "Runaway."
Along the likes of Florence and the Machine, Sia, and Grimes, if any of those artists strike your fancy, I highly suggest giving this gal a listen!
Happy Wednesday :)
xxChris
