Lissie Brings Fury To Brooklyn

On Tuesday, Lissie returned to Brooklyn, playing the Music Hall of Williamsburg. More accurately, she brought the house down with fury.

When she came to town last October, I saw her play a solo acoustic set at Rough Trade, however, this held no candle to the energy unleashed by a backing band, as was present on Tuesday. A mix of both old and new songs, the set was driven by roaring emotion and inherent bad-assery as she wailed fiery vocals and shredded across stage.

Some of the night's highlights including "Shameless," "Sleepwalking," "When I'm Alone," and my favorite, "They All Want You."

But I'm the one that sees you when the party people leave you. And my heart breaks watching it takin' it's toll..

It was an incredible show, though she doesn't so much put on a show as create this feeling of jammin' with a large group of friends in the back yard. It's casual and kind, invigorating and most of all, memorable.

After leaving the stage, she returned for the obligatory encore where she then brought the night to a close with her renown cover of Kid Cudi's "Pursuit of Happiness." There's only one possible response to it:

Bad. Ass. Woman.

Lissie, thanks for the fury,

xxChris
